G.L.U.E. has the following objectives:
1. To further public knowledge and appreciation of Ontario's marine heritage by exploring, surveying, and documenting submerged cultural resources in Ontario's lakes and rivers. Such resources include shipwrecks, aircraft and other wreckage of historical interest and value. G.L.U.E. has a special interest in wrecks that have not been previously explored, surveyed or documented.
2. To improve access to a greater variety of shore and boat dive sites, in order to take full advantage of Ontario's submerged cultural resources.
3. To encourage the preservation of Ontario's submerged cultural resources by assisting museums and public archives in acquiring information pertaining to Ontario's marine history.
4. To document Ontario's submerged cultural resources using high quality video and photo images.
5. To encourage recreational and technical diving practices that have a low impact on submerged cultural resources and the environment.
6. To work with other agencies and organizations to ensure that submerged cultural resources are protected from harm.
